The full 3D animated film "The Longest Night," based on the bestselling fairy tale, has been officially invited to the Centrepiece program of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.
According to its overseas distributor Finecut, this marks the first time in 13 years that a Korean feature animation has been invited to the Toronto International Film Festival, following director Yeon Sang-ho's "The Fake" in 2013.
Giovanna Fulvi, a programmer at the Toronto International Film Festival, praised "The Longest Night," stating, "It delicately embodies a world where natural beauty and human-made perils coexist, while warmly delivering a message of friendship and resilience."
Based on author Ruri's bestselling novel of the same name, "The Longest Night" follows the journey of Noden, the last white rhinoceros on Earth, and a young penguin as they search for the sea. Directed by Yum Kyu-bok, the film was produced as a full 3D animation utilizing Unreal Engine.
"The Longest Night," which will hold its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, will announce its festival screening schedule and domestic release date at a later time through The Content ON, which handles both domestic and international distribution.
