South Korea's under-17 (U-17) girls' volleyball national team marked their debut win at the FIVB Volleyball Girls' U17 World Championship, which they are participating in for the first time as Asian champions.
The national team defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-10, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24) in their opening Group D match of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) U-17 Girls' World Championship held at the Liceo Mixto Gymnasium in Los Andes, Chile, today (August 7).
Outside hitter Son Seo-yeon (Sunmyung Girls' High School), often called the "Little Kim Yeon-koung," scored a game-high 28 points, including 24 attack points, two blocks, and two aces.
Securing 3 points, South Korea became the first team in Group D to claim a victory.
South Korea will face Chinese Taipei for their second group stage match at the same venue tomorrow at 3:00 AM.
