The Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) announced that due to the Korea Meteorological Administration's extreme heat forecasts, only morning games will be played on August 7, the opening day of the 54th Bonghwangdaegi National High School Baseball Tournament.
The KBSA stated that with nationwide extreme heat expected to reach its peak on August 7, it decided to hold only morning games to ensure player safety and completely reschedule the tournament by securing additional reserve dates for each venue.
Accordingly, the games scheduled for the opening day of the tournament are three matches starting at 8:30 AM.
The KBSA added that this decision was made by simultaneously considering college admissions rolling applications and heat preparedness, and vowed to actively implement necessary measures to ensure a safe tournament for all players, coaches, umpires, and tournament officials while closely monitoring future heat conditions.
Previously, following the issuance of a severe heat wave warning on August 4, the KBSA preemptively adjusted the game times for the Bonghwangdaegi tournament scheduled from August 7 to August 9.
The Bonghwangdaegi National High School Baseball Tournament is the domestic high school tournament of the largest scale with 104 registered high school teams participating, and runs through August 27 at Mok동 Baseball Stadium, Sinwol Baseball Stadium, and Guui Baseball Stadium in Seoul.
