Director Lee Ji-won, who drew attention with the 2018 film 'Miss Baek', is returning with her new movie 'Bikwang', which is set to be released next month.
Ryu Seung-ryong, who plays the lead role, shared that he resonated deeply with the story of a family that truly shines only when they are together.
[Now watch just how far your daughter falls.]
The film 'Bikwang' tells the story of a couple, once top stars, who step forward to rescue their daughter embroiled in a shocking incident.
The title is derived from a Hwatu (flower card) tile. Director Lee explained that she chose the title because "Bikwang" is an outcast Gwang (special tile) that nevertheless yields an immense score when combined with other Gwang cards, making it fitting for a story about people struggling and standing in solidarity.
Ryu Seung-ryong plays the protagonist Jung-gu, a former top baseball player who has now fallen from grace.
Describing his character as someone who stops at nothing for his daughter, Ryu noted that this role has a different texture of paternal love compared to what he showed in works like 'Miracle in Cell No. 7', and expressed his belief that all fathers will be able to relate to it.
