U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 4th (local time) that the Strait of Hormuz will open soon, warning that otherwise Iran will face a very strong attack.
According to AFP, President Trump said in an interview with Fox News that he is having "very good discussions with Iran," claiming that Iran eagerly wants an agreement to mend months of conflict.
"The important thing is actions," he said. "We'll see what happens. There is plenty of time."
These remarks came as U.S. and Iranian authorities simultaneously flashed green lights, suggesting progress in diplomatic solutions, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end the war in June, but engaged in armed clashes for several days after failing to narrow their differences over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Later, mediated by Middle Eastern countries centered around Oman, the two nations shifted to a phase of dialogue and resumed negotiations over the reopening of the strait.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also met with reporters to confirm that the United States is involved in the negotiations between Oman and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, stating, "We hope an agreement will be reached very soon."
