The Gwangju Seobu Police Station announced today (August 5) that it has apprehended and is currently investigating a person in their 20s, identified as A, on theft charges.
A is suspected of fleeing after stealing 6 million won in cash from the bag of a flower wholesaler in their 60s, identified as B, at a wholesale flower shop in Seo-gu, Gwangju, on June 6.
Investigations revealed that the two were acquainted, and A committed the crime while B stepped away to assist another customer.
A, who currently has no specific occupation, reportedly stated that the crime was committed to secure living expenses.
Following closed-circuit television (CCTV) tracking, police apprehended A on the afternoon of August 4 and plan to request an arrest warrant considering the risk of flight.
