World-renowned master director Christopher Nolan recently sat down for an exclusive interview with SBS. He shared behind-the-scenes stories about his new film 'Odyssey' and expressed his unique convictions regarding filmmaking in the age of AI.

Cheers erupt as Director Christopher Nolan steps into the SBS building in Mok-dong, Seoul.
Patiently fulfilling autograph requests from fans, Nolan expressed his special gratitude toward Korean fans during an interview with 'News Hunters'.
[Christopher Nolan / Film Director: When 'Interstellar' was released a few years ago, countless Korean audiences came to see it. Ever since then, I've really wanted to come to Korea, meet the fans, and feel that passion firsthand.]
Acclaimed as one of the greatest directors of our time for his deep portrayals of the human inner psyche,
Nolan stated that the narrative of his new film 'Odyssey' served as the starting point for many of his past works.
[Christopher Nolan / Film Director: The archetypes of so many themes and stories that I've dealt with importantly throughout my cinematic life actually had their roots in 'Odyssey'. It was a truly fascinating discovery.]
Having insisted on realistic direction rather than computer graphics—such as building a cornfield from scratch for a six-month shoot and blowing up an actual airplane—he emphasized that as AI advances, the core of cinema ultimately remains creativity.
[Christopher Nolan / Film Director: My interest is in utilizing these technological tools alongside the creative human artists I collaborate with. I believe that when technology is used in this way, we can create works that everyone can take pride in, and works that people can truly believe in and immerse themselves in.]
Applaudingly noting that Korean filmmakers are transforming cultural trends, Nolan also shared about his delightful meeting with Director Park Chan-wook during his visit to Korea.
[Christopher Nolan / Film Director: Director Park Chan-wook told me, 'You should enjoy some vacation and take a rest. But don't rest for too long, because I really want to see your next project.' Honestly, hearing that made me feel quite exhausted.]
Nolan emphasized that through this film, he desperately wanted to convey the meaning of 'mutual respect'—a value that underpins civilization—to modern society.
