Coupang Inc., listed on the New York Stock Exchange, announced today (Aug. 5) that it recorded an operating loss of 835 billion won ($556 million) in the second quarter of this year, shifting to a deficit compared to the same period last year.
Following its transition to a deficit in the first quarter of this year in the wake of last year's personal data leak incident, Coupang Inc. has now posted operating losses for two consecutive quarters.
The scale of the deficit in the second quarter exceeds last year's operating profit (679 billion won) and marks the largest quarterly deficit on record since its listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021.
Revenue reached 13.3007 trillion won ($8.856 billion), marking a 4% increase year-on-year and setting a new all-time high.
Revenue increased by 10% on a constant currency basis, excluding fluctuations in exchange rates.
The net loss for the second quarter stood at 856 billion won ($570 million), also shifting to a deficit and marking consecutive quarters of net losses.
