Actor Ahn Bo-hyun, who has returned with "Flex X Cop 2," has expressed strong confidence that the upcoming second season will be even more entertaining than the first.
On the morning of the 4th, a production presentation for the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Flex X Cop 2" (written by Kim Ba-da, directed by Kim Jae-hong) was held at the SBS building in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Actors Ahn Bo-hyun, Jung Eun-chae, Kang Sang-jun, and Kim Shin-bi, along with director Kim Jae-hong, attended the event to share their honest thoughts and extraordinary confidence regarding Season 2.
"Flex X Cop 2" is an exhilarating, refreshing, and satisfying high-end cooperative investigative drama featuring Jin Yi-soo (played by Ahn Bo-hyun), a chaebol detective who overturns cases with his immense wealth when investigations hit a wall, and the new team leader Joo Hye-ra (played by Jung Eun-chae). When it aired in 2024, it recorded peak viewership ratings of 11%, solidifying its position as one of SBS's signature refreshing hit series.
Returning for Season 2, Ahn Bo-hyun spoke about the changes in his character Jin Yi-soo, saying, "He has become a bit more mature after going through police academy. While maintaining his born-to-be baseline, viewers will be able to see an even cooler Jin Yi-soo." He added, "There are a lot more exhilarating action scenes compared to Season 1. This time, even a private jet appears, along with action sequences that are hard to encounter in dramas. Memorable scenes reminiscent of a single film will continue, delivering great satisfaction to viewers."
In particular, Ahn Bo-hyun described his feelings of reuniting with the staff from Season 1, saying, "It felt exciting, like returning to school after winter break." He shared his thoughts on the ongoing seasonal format, stating, "Continuing with a seasonal series itself is an honor as an actor, and I feel both a sense of responsibility and weight at the same time."
He continued, "In Season 2, many unexpected characters and episodes appear. From my perspective, Season 2 has the fun of deducing mysteries with each episode shown on Fridays and Saturdays. Watching parts of the script come to life on screen felt fresh to me as well. I think those parts will make the younger sibling (Season 2) surpass the older brother (Season 1)," showing strong confidence.
On this day, Ahn Bo-hyun drew attention with an unusual viewership rating pledge. He said, "Our rival is Season 1. If we exceed 15% in viewership ratings, I want to make a pledge," and added, "I will select and fulfill special pledge comments left by viewers on the official SBS channel," bringing laughter to the venue.
Finally, Ahn Bo-hyun shared his honest wish, saying, "While I thought (Season 2) would bring a graceful conclusion, I hope many people will think, 'I hope Season 3 happens.'" He also added, "I hope many people can feel a refreshing burst of dopamine while watching the drama and forget about the difficult things in society."
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Flex X Cop 2," which features Ahn Bo-hyun alongside Kang Sang-jun, Kim Shin-bi, and new member Jung Eun-chae for a fresher dynamic, will premiere this coming Friday (the 7th) at 9:50 PM as the follow-up to "Agent Kim Reactivated".
