President Lee Jae-myung presided over a meeting to review real estate policies and the stock market right after returning from his overseas trip. President Lee called for a reexamination of real estate supply measures.

President Lee Jae-myung arrived at Seoul Airport yesterday morning (August 3) after wrapping up his visits to San Francisco, U.S., and three South American nations: Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
President Lee headed straight to the Blue House to preside over a closed-door review meeting regarding the real estate and stock markets.
Lasting about 7 and a half hours from 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with dinner served as boxed meals, President Lee instructed Prime Minister Han Sung-sook and ministers of relevant ministries to comprehensively reexamine existing housing supply measures, look into realistic public demands from various angles, and meticulously push ahead with them.
He also directed that additional reports and follow-up review meetings regarding financial and housing supply be arranged within two to three days.
President Lee emphasized that the sluggish housing supply persisting since 2022 has led to a supply cliff situation, stressing that supply and speed are crucial to overcoming it.
At the same time, he instructed officials to secure the maximum available supply volume and find methods such as administrative measures, financing, fiscal support, and deregulation for swift supply.
It was reported that countermeasures for the stock market situation, including the KOSPI which experienced unprecedented volatility last week, were also discussed at the meeting.
President Lee's prompt holding of a meeting on domestic economic pending issues immediately upon his return is interpreted as a resolve to fill the vacuum caused by his 11-day, 7-night overseas tour and focus on domestic issues.
Starting today, President Lee is scheduled to receive work reports from 27 ministries, agencies, and committees, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Justice.
