▲ Firefighters dispatched to an apartment complex hit by a power outage
Power was cut off in parts of Pungmu-dong, Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, at 8:08 PM today (the 3rd), and was restored about 40 minutes later.
Due to the blackout, residents of more than 5,000 apartment households experienced inconvenience as they were unable to use electrical appliances and air conditioning units.
Reports were received that residents were trapped in six apartment elevators at the time of the outage, and two of them were rescued by the fire authorities.
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) plans to investigate the exact cause of the outage, believing that a surge in electricity consumption caused problems with the high-voltage power receiving equipment.
