The KOSPI, which recorded an all-time record surge the previous trading day, plunged by more than 5% to fall back into the 6,200 range.
Today, the KOSPI closed down 338.00 points (5.12%) from the previous session at 6,257.45.
The index started the session down 237.18 points (3.60%) at 6,358.27, expanded its losses, and dropped as low as 6,223.29 during intra-day trading.
It subsequently closed with its losses slightly narrowed.
Previously, on the last trading day, the KOSPI rebounded from a three-day slump to close up 1,001.89 points (17.91%) at 6,595.45, marking its largest gain and percentage increase on record.
However, it turned downward today, just one trading session later.
Meanwhile, the KOSDAQ index finished up 17.59 points (2.44%) at 737.35.
This marks a second consecutive day of gains, following a surge of over 11% in the previous trading session.
