The investigation into a senior police superintendent from the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, who is accused of sexual misconduct and has been dubbed the "King of Geoje" after working in the Geoje region for over 30 years, is set to be handled by the Daejeon Provincial Police Agency.
The Korean National Police Agency reportedly transitioned its internal inspection into a formal criminal investigation today (August 3) regarding allegations that Superintendent A sexually harassed female police officers at private gatherings, assigning the case to the Women and Youth Crime Investigation Unit of the Daejeon Provincial Police Agency.
The National Police Agency, which has been conducting a high-intensity probe into Superintendent A's alleged sexual misconduct since early last month, plans to continue investigating two other officers—one superintendent and one senior inspector formerly with the Geoje Police Station—who were placed on standby pending an investigation over suspicions of aiding Superintendent A.
