During his first stop in the United States, President Lee met with big tech executives, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, to discuss cooperation in cutting-edge industries such as semiconductors, and announced the "San Francisco AI Declaration," which outlines South Korea's vision for fostering the artificial intelligence industry.
At summit meetings with South American nations—conducted in the order of Brazil, Chile, and Argentina—discussions focused heavily on cooperation over critical minerals, including rare earths, and energy diversification, such as importing crude oil from Argentina.
In Germany, he emphasized the government's role for local expatriates through a meeting with the overseas Korean community.
Following his return, President Lee is expected to instruct aides on follow-up measures to maximize the outcomes of his tour, while receiving detailed briefings on domestic issues to fine-tune the direction of state affairs.
In particular, as the domestic stock market showed high volatility during his tour, fueling market instability, he is anticipated to focus on devising containment and stabilizing measures.
