Hollywood star Charlize Theron drew attention by expressing her extraordinary affection and fondness for Korea.
Attending a press conference for "The Odyssey" held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on the morning of the 3rd, Charlize Theron shared that although this is her first official visit, she had already visited Korea once earlier this year.
Theron began by saying, "Actually, a few months ago, I came to Korea to hang out with my 10-year-old daughter. I love Korean culture so much, and I made some Korean friends back then. I am happy to return with a movie."
Recalling her visit earlier this year, she said, "Back then, my daughter and I walked around all day. I ate Korean food with a Korean friend. I also experienced famous Korean skincare cosmetics. Korean technology is the best."
Theron added, "I told a friend that the energy changes as soon as you arrive in Korea. Seoul is a beautiful place with a rich culture. You can feel it the moment you step off the plane. This time, I came to promote a movie and have various schedules, so I won't be able to have as many diverse experiences, but I will enjoy it as much as possible before leaving."
Theron's visit to Korea earlier this year became known through social media and other channels. At the time, Theron drew attention by participating in a cooking class with her daughter, where they made kimbap, tteokbokki, and more.
In the new film "The Odyssey," Theron plays the sea goddess Calypso. Working with Director Nolan for the first time, Theron could not hide her admiration for the master director's unique working style, saying, "The director is consistent. It was my first time working with him, and I joined in the latter part, so I was quite nervous. What moved me was that the director creates such an intimate atmosphere on set. It felt like shooting an independent film. Given the grand scale, I never expected we would work together in such a friendly way."
"The Odyssey" depicts the journey of Odysseus (Matt Damon), a hero who led the 10-year Trojan War to victory, as he sets out to return to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland), who are waiting for him while taking advantage of the king's absence. The film is set to open domestically on the 5th.
