Subway Line 1 northbound trains at Noryangjin Station and Line 4 southbound trains at Hyehwa Station temporarily bypassed the stops during the Monday morning commute due to a subway boarding protest by the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD).
SADD activists and affiliates held a subway boarding protest starting around 8:00 a.m. at Noryangjin and Hyehwa stations, demanding the reflection of disability rights budgets.
In response, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) skipped Noryangjin Station northbound trains from around 8:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. considering passenger safety, and Seoul Metro also bypassed Hyehwa Station southbound trains from 8:42 a.m. to 9:28 a.m.
Trains are currently operating normally.
After boarding the subway at Hyehwa Station and getting off at Seoul Station, SADD activists moved in front of the Korea Fiscal Information Service in Jung-gu to hold a resolution rally demanding the guarantee of the 2027 disability rights budget and the institutionalization of rights-based jobs.
Urging the government to guarantee the disability rights budget, they plan to hold subway boarding protests on the platform of Hyehwa Station at 8:00 a.m. every Monday from today until August 24.
