Im Sung-jae finished in a tie for 15th place at the PGA Tour Rocket Classic, which boasts a total purse of $10 million.
Playing the final round of the tournament at the Detroit Golf Club (par 70) in Detroit, Michigan, on August 3 (KST), Im carded a 3-under 67 with four birdies and one bogey.
With a final score of 11-under 269, Im rose eight spots from his overnight tie for 23rd to wrap up the tournament in a tie for 15th.
The championship went to Michael Thorbjornsen of the United States, who fired a 7-under 63 to finish at 18-under 262, beating runner-up Xander Schauffele (USA, 16-under 264) by two strokes.
Thorbjornsen, who made his PGA Tour debut in 2024, claimed his first career victory in two years and pushed his FedEx Cup ranking up to 38th.
Falling just short of the top 10, Im saw his FedEx Cup ranking edge up by a single spot to 57th.
With only the Wyndham Championship remaining in the PGA regular season, Im has secured his spot in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first playoff event open to the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings. However, he faces the pressure of significantly raising his ranking to qualify for the BMW Championship for the top 50 and the Tour Championship for the top 30.
Im played a steady round, raising his driver accuracy to 85.71%.
After picking up a stroke with a 2-meter birdie putt on the 4th hole (par 5), Im grabbed another birdie on the 8th hole (par 4) to shave two strokes off his score on the front nine alone.
Though he dropped a shot with a bogey after missing a 5-meter par putt on the 13th hole (par 4), Im immediately bounced back with a birdie on the 14th hole (par 5) and picked up a final birdie on the 16th hole (par 4) to close out the tournament on a positive note.
Meanwhile, Kim Si-woo, who started the fourth round in a tie for 11th, struggled with two birdies and six bogeys to shoot a 4-over 74. He finished with a total of 6-under 274 in a tie for 42nd place, missing out on the top 10.
Kim's FedEx Cup ranking remained unchanged at 7th.
