▲ The rescue of the family on Yundol Island
At 3:18 p.m. on July 31, the Tongyeong Coast Guard received a report that a family of three was isolated on Yundol Island, Ilun-myeon, Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.
With the assistance of two personal watercraft operating nearby, the coast guard safely rescued the three individuals and transported them to the nearby Gujora Beach.
The three family members had headed to Yundol Island aboard a privately owned unmotorized rubber boat at 1 p.m. that day, and became stranded after the boat sprang a leak while they were swimming.
An official from the Tongyeong Coast Guard stated, "Since minor damage to personal leisure equipment can lead to accidents such as being stranded, it is essential to thoroughly check for any equipment defects before setting out."
