Large Fire Breaks Out at Gunsan Wood Factory; Main Blaze Extinguished as Crews Wet Down Hotspots

Early this morning (August 2) at around 3:00 AM, an unconfirmed fire broke out at a wood factory in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do.

Following the outbreak, firefighting authorities issued a Level 1 response, deploying 49 pieces of equipment and 127 personnel. They brought the main blaze under control at around 8:00 AM and are currently focusing on extinguishing remaining hotspots.

Due to today's fire, a factory employee in his 60s sustained burns to his face and arms and was transported to a hospital, while some of the factory's equipment was burned.

Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact scale of the damage and the cause of the fire as soon as the hotspot cleanup work is completed.
