Korail+, an integrated ticketing application for the country's two major high-speed rail services, KTX and SRT, will be released tomorrow (August 3).
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced today (August 2) that users can access the integrated app starting at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow by updating the existing KorailTalk app or by installing the new one.
This measure follows the integration of train operations by Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) and SR, the operators of KTX and SRT, starting next month.
Users of the integrated app will be able to book tickets for the integrated KTX-SRT trains (which begin operations on September 1) starting at 10:00 a.m. on August 5.
Ticketing information, including train timetables and fares, can be checked in advance on both companies' websites and at railway stations starting at 10:00 a.m. on August 3.
For trains operating in August, tickets for KTX can be booked via Korail+ or the existing KorailTalk app, while SRT tickets can be booked through the existing SRT app.
To minimize inconvenience for users, the Ministry plans to maintain the ticketing functions of the existing KorailTalk and SRT apps for a certain period even after September 1.
However, the SRT app will only support non-member ticketing.
The Ministry stated that convenience has been improved with the launch of the integrated app.
The search process has been streamlined during the booking stage, and the payment stage has been designed to allow users to handle discount coupons, mileage, and payment methods on a single screen.
Regarding services for foreign visitors, plans are underway to expand features such as artificial intelligence (AI)-powered guidance, platform expansion, and customized support.
The existing KorailTalk currently supports seven languages.
The Ministry plans to host a launch event for the integrated app at Suseo Station tomorrow to introduce its key features, alongside promotional booths at major railway stations nationwide.
Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yoon-deok stated, "The launch of the integrated app is the starting point where citizens can first experience the benefits of high-speed rail integration," adding, "We will make thorough preparations so that people can conveniently book KTX and SRT tickets through a single app while enjoying lowered fares and expanded seating."
