Son Heung-min Scores in 4 Consecutive MLS Matches with Opening Goal Against Vancouver

Son Heung-min (LAFC) has scored in four consecutive Major League Soccer (MLS) matches.

Playing away against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 19th round of the 2026 MLS season at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, on August 2 (KST), Son broke the deadlock in the 37th minute of the first half with a brilliant right-footed turning shot to become the first scorer of the match.

With this goal, Son recorded his 4th MLS goal and savored the joy of scoring in four straight games.

Having remained silent in the league since the MLS opening in February, Son scored his first goal in a match against the LA Galaxy on June 18—his first game back following the 2026 North and Central America World Cup break—and has now piled up goals in four consecutive matches, following games against Real Salt Lake on the 23rd, Sporting Kansas City on the 26th, and today against Vancouver.

Including two goals scored in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Son now has six goals in official matches this season.

LAFC struggled early in the match against Vancouver's strong early offensive pressure and thick defensive wall, failing to manage a single shot.

Suffering from zero shots, LAFC launched a counterattack in the 37th minute of the first half after intercepting the ball in the center of the opponent's half, and Denis Bouanga passed to Son Heung-min in the center of the penalty area.

Receiving the ball with his back to the defense, Son unleashed a right-footed turning shot that shook the tightly sealed Vancouver net.

Son's shot was LAFC's first of the day, and he became the protagonist of the opening goal with a one-shot, one-kill finish.

Thanks to Son's opening goal, LAFC finished the first half leading 1-0.
