A small aircraft flying over the Nazca archaeological site in South America's Peru crashed on August 1 local time, killing 13 people, AFP reported on the same day.
The crashed plane was carrying 11 passengers and two pilots, and local police have determined that everyone on board died, according to AFP.
The Nazca site, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, features massive geoglyphs believed to have been created by an ancient indigenous community over 2,000 years ago, attracting numerous tourists every year.
Massive drawings of a hummingbird, a monkey, a whale, and other figures are etched onto the ground. Because of their immense size, their complete forms can only be seen from the air.
