Fascinated by Public Transit: Changwon Had Scooters, Seoul Has Buses for Davidson

Heavy hitter Matt Davidson, who moved to the Kiwoom Heroes after playing for the NC Dinos, has reportedly fallen in love with South Korea's public transportation. After riding a kickboard in Changwon, he is now commuting via Seoul's convenient city buses.

Reporter Jeon Yeongmin rode the bus with him.

Before setting out for the commute with his son, Davidson stops by a convenience store to top up his transit card.

Among the various routes from his residence to the home stadium, Gocheok Sky Dome, he even has a superstition of taking the same bus he rode on days when he swung his bat fiercely.

[Matt Davidson / Kiwoom Infielder: We didn't get any hits the day we took bus No. 88. Let's take bus No. 660 today.]

As he boards the bus, he expertly handles multi-passenger fare payment for his son, who doesn't have a card yet.

He also chats with passengers who are baseball fans.

[Matt Davidson / Kiwoom Infielder: Go Kiwoom? Sounds good!]

Having played for NC since 2024, Davidson mostly got around Changwon on a kickboard. After joining Kiwoom and moving to Seoul, he fell in love with buses, which are free from traffic congestion.

[Matt Davidson / Kiwoom Infielder: I had never ridden a city bus in my life. Traffic in Seoul is so heavy, so getting anywhere as fast as possible is the best thing for me.]

Coincidentally, his baseball performance has also improved since he started taking the bus.

Leading the Kiwoom lineup with much better numbers than during his days with NC, he is boosting the possibility of continuing to use his beloved Korean public transit next year.
