Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 60s died on a hiking trail at Mount Mani on Ganghwa Island, Incheon.
According to the Incheon Ganghwa Police Station and other sources, a report was filed with emergency services at 119 at 11:05 a.m. yesterday, stating that a person had collapsed on a hiking trail near the summit of Mount Mani in Ganghwa-gun.
The man, identified as A in his 60s, was found collapsed and transported to a hospital in Incheon in cardiac arrest, but was pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m. yesterday.
The hospital reportedly determined his cause of death to be unknown.
Police plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service, keeping various possibilities in mind, including death caused by a heat-related illness.
A police official stated, "No particular external injuries were found on Mr. A," adding, "We plan to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy."
