YouTuber Yoo Hye-joo (known as RijuLike) has opened up about the sorrow of losing her father just three days after giving birth to her second son.
On July 30, Yoo shared the news of her father's passing through a video titled "[VLOG] Birth D-13, Our Story That Had Paused for a While" on her YouTube channel, RijuLike. She explained, "My father was diagnosed with rectal cancer six years ago. As the cancer metastasized to his pelvis and worsened, he underwent a lot of chemotherapy until treatment was no longer possible. He passed away a month after being moved to a hospice hospital."
Yoo, who gave birth to her second son on July 19, bid farewell to her father on July 22. After holding the funeral, she reportedly returned to a postpartum care center to look after her health.
As the eldest daughter, Yoo emphasized that after her father's battle with cancer began, her entire family gathered to live in Busan, spending time together with no regrets. She added, "There were many moments where we forgave and resolved past hurts among family members." She also shared that her siblings took turns caring for him in the hospital, and that her father frequently said during his lifetime, "I am truly happy. Right now is the happiest time of my life."
She continued, "My father always told us siblings, 'I will do what I need to do, so you guys focus on your own lives.' I told my younger siblings that we should live hard and do our part so that our father wouldn't have to worry," explaining the reason for releasing the YouTube content.
Regarding her current state of mind, she shed tears as she said, "Having seen how much my father suffered because of the cancer, I feel more at peace knowing he is no longer in pain. The only sadness is the longing of not being able to see him anymore."
Yoo married in 2019 and has two sons.
