A man in his 50s who threatened a monk with a toy gun at a temple and tried to force him into a car led police on a 50-kilometer high-speed chase. He attempted to escape by repeatedly ramming police patrol cars before being cornered and arrested after police even fired live rounds.

Police cars quickly surround a single vehicle.
Instead of stopping, however, the suspect tries to flee by continuously ramming into the patrol cars.
Two blank shots and four live rounds are fired, but the suspect does not stop.
Ultimately, police smash the window with an expandable baton and use a Taser to subdue the suspect.
The suspect was captured here after engaging in about a 50-kilometer pursuit with the police.
The chase began at a temple in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do.
A man in his 50s suddenly entered the temple and threatened a monk, demanding that he get into the car.
When the monk refused, the man pulled out an 87-centimeter-long firearm from the passenger seat and threatened him.

When a temple official tried to block him, the man drove off and was eventually cornered by police after an hour and a half of fleeing.
Investigations revealed that the weapon was a toy gun loaded with about 100 BB pellets, and the suspect was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Five police officers were injured during the capture. Police have booked the suspect on charges including violations of the Road Traffic Act, special intimidation, and special obstruction of official duties resulting in injury, and are investigating the exact motive behind the crime.
