▲ Lviv, Ukraine, targeted by Russian attacks on the 30th local time
Russia launched a massive nationwide airstrike across Ukraine in the early hours of the 30th local time, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens, according to foreign media outlets such as AFP and Reuters.
A high-ranking Russian military official stated that airfields, military communication facilities, and logistics centers were targeted across seven regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv and Lviv.
The latest attack appears to have caused damage across wide areas of Ukraine, including residential neighborhoods.
Russian ballistic missiles struck homes in a village near Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine, killing six people, including two children.
The Kryvyi Rih Defense Council reported that eight people were also injured, warning that the death toll could rise further.
In central Ukraine's Poltava Oblast, a drone attacked a warehouse, killing one person, while local authorities reported that at least 15 people were injured in an airstrike in the western city of Lviv.
In the capital city of Kyiv, one person was killed and two others were injured in a Russian ballistic missile attack.
It was also reported that five people were injured in the eastern district of Kyiv.
AFP reported that multiple explosions were heard after air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also reported that fires had broken out in various parts of the city.
Mayor Klitschko urged citizens to stay in shelters, stating, "The enemy is attacking the capital with ballistic missiles, and the threat of further attacks remains."
The airstrikes came shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of the possibility of a large-scale Russian attack.
Earlier, President Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that "Russian forces prepared a massive attack a few days ago, and an airstrike is very likely to be carried out tonight."
Russia has recently stepped up long-range airstrikes targeting cities and towns across Ukraine.
Russia also struck three cargo ships carrying weapons and military equipment to Ukraine.
In a statement released the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense said, "We carried out airstrikes against one cargo ship at the port of Yuzhny and two cargo ships in the waters east and south of Odesa, and these vessels were transporting weapons and military equipment to be delivered to the Ukrainian military."
Ukraine also continued its counterattacks targeting Russian territory that day.
A Ukrainian drone attack reportedly triggered a massive fire at a logistics warehouse of Wildberries, Russia's largest online shopping mall, located in Russia's western Penza region.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that as the war situation on the ground improved for Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump's attitude toward President Zelenskyy had turned more favorable in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Poland, which shares a border with Ukraine, scrambled fighter jets as a precautionary measure to protect its airspace in response to the Russian airstrikes.
The Polish military stated on X that "fighter jets and early warning aircraft have commenced operations, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems are on high alert."
While Russia was launching massive missile strikes across Ukraine, an unidentified object also fell in Poland, which shares its eastern border with Ukraine.
Polish authorities are currently investigating by collecting debris and examining a large crater measuring 10 meters in diameter created after an unknown object fell into a field near a village in the Lublin Voivodeship in eastern Poland early that morning.
