Seven people, including a man in his 30s who commissioned the assault of his aunt at the same company, accomplices who participated in the beating for money, and a middleman, have been arrested.
The Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police Agency announced today (July 30) that it has arrested a total of seven suspects on charges including injury. They include a man in his 30s, identified as A, who ordered the assault; a man in his 20s, identified as B, who was instructed by A to find people to carry out a contract beating; a middleman; and the men who actually participated in the assault for money.
According to police, suspect A had been in deep conflict over work-related issues with his aunt, a woman in her 60s identified as C, who worked at the same company.
Determined to cause harm to his aunt C, suspect A instructed his acquaintance B, who usually followed his orders, earlier this year to find people who would assault his aunt in exchange for money.
Suspect B contacted D, a former coworker who acted as a middleman in this case, and D used messengers and other means to recruit four others, including junior acquaintances from his neighborhood.
The client side promised to pay 80 million won as compensation for the assault and made an advance payment of 10 million won.
The four perpetrators divided roles such as planning, giving instructions, acting as a lookout, and carrying out the assault before committing the crime.
Messenger conversations secured by the police investigation contained specific details regarding the assault methods, such as "hospitalize her for about 2 to 3 months" or "hit her face and then hit other parts as well."
Eventually, on June 24, two men approached victim C as she was returning home in Uijeongbu.
While one acted as a lookout, the other carried out the assault, leaving C with severe facial injuries.
The physical perpetrators were subsequently apprehended, and police launched an investigation after detecting signs of retaliatory violence.
As the police investigation closed in, suspect A and others instructed individuals to make false statements to the police to sever ties and shift the blame, even promising 10 million won in exchange.
A police official stated, "Even if private retaliation is commissioned anonymously, all participants will be apprehended and face harsher punishment," adding, "Moving forward, we plan to swiftly investigate cases of commissioned private retaliation and maintain the principle of arresting all participants."
