K League 1 club Pohang Steelers, who recently sent striker Lee Ho-jae to German 2. Bundesliga side Darmstadt, have bolstered their attacking options by signing veteran forward Won Ki-jong.
Pohang announced today (July 30), "We have expanded our tactical flexibility in the attack by signing Won Ki-jong, an offensive asset capable of playing both central and flank positions."
Capable of playing as a central striker, second striker, and winger, Won entered the K League stage with Seoul E-Land in 2018. He has since played for Daejeon Hana Citizen, Gimcheon Sangmu, and Gyeongnam FC, recording 40 goals and 15 assists in 178 career appearances.
This season, Won has recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in 12 appearances for Gyeongnam in K League 2.
Won said, "I know Pohang is a team with a strong atmosphere and solid teamwork, which is why I chose this new challenge. As I am joining midway through the season, I will integrate into the team as quickly as possible and contribute to helping Pohang reach higher heights."
