A series of major upsets shook the Korea Cup, the tournament to crown the top football club in the country. The third-tier Ulsan Citizen FC defeated first-tier Ulsan HD, while second-tier league leaders Busan also beat first-tier leaders FC Seoul to advance to the Round of 16.

Ulsan Citizen of the K3 League seized the initiative in the 18th minute of the first half during their very first match against the first-tier powerhouse Ulsan HD since the club's foundation.
After the opposing defense failed to properly clear the ball, it fell straight to Kim Jae-chul inside the penalty box, who shook the net with a precise left-footed shot.
Ulsan Citizen successfully protected this single goal to defeat Ulsan HD, emerging as the biggest "giant killer" of this tournament.
Ulsan Citizen will now compete against first-tier Gwangju FC for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Busan, the leaders of the second tier, also pulled off an upset by defeating FC Seoul, the leaders of the first tier.
After Gutemberg scored the opening goal with a header just 7 minutes into the match, substitute Baek Ga-on scored an additional goal in the 42nd minute of the second half, securing a clean 2-0 victory.
Busan will clash with first-tier Bucheon in the Round of 16.
The Jinju Citizen FC defeated the Busan Transportation Corporation after a fierce penalty shootout.
Jinju Citizen reached the Round of 16 for the first time in their history and as the only K4 League team in this tournament, setting up a meeting with first-tier Pohang Steelers.
