The Korea Media Communications Commission has voted to re-license SBS M&C as a broadcast advertising sales agency for a period of 5 years.
The commission announced that it held its 26th general meeting at the Government Complex Gwacheon on the 29th to review and vote on the re-licensing of SBS M&C, a broadcast advertising sales agency for terrestrial broadcasters.
According to the review results from an external screening committee composed of 10 experts in broadcasting, advertising, law, management, economics, and accounting, SBS M&C received a total score of 82.384 points.
Having exceeded the re-licensing threshold of 70 points out of 100, a 5-year re-licensing was granted.
Reflecting the recommendations of the re-licensing screening committee, the commission also imposed a total of 5 conditional provisions.
The conditions require the company to submit measures to prevent violations of shareholder ownership restrictions, support advertising sales for regional and small-to-medium terrestrial broadcasters, and allocate 3 percent or more of its gross profit to support the development of the broadcasting and advertising industries.
Kim Jong-cheol, Chairperson of the Korea Media Communications Commission, stated, "SBS M&C must take responsibility as a broadcast advertising sales agency to realize fair competition and public interest in the broadcast advertising market," adding, "Please do your utmost to revitalize broadcast advertising for regional and small-to-medium broadcasters."
