Actor Kim Soo-hyun has been cleared of allegations related to violations of the Child Welfare Act concerning the late Kim Sae-ron.
The Seongdong Police Station, which investigated the case, recently decided not to forward Kim Soo-hyun's case to the prosecutors.
Previously, the bereaved family of Kim Sae-ron and Kim Se-ui, the head of Garosero Research Institute, claimed that the late actress dated Kim Soo-hyun when she was a minor, and filed a police complaint against Kim Soo-hyun in May last year under the Child Welfare Act and other charges.
At the time, Kim Se-ui held a press conference alongside attorney Bu Ji-seok and released an audio file, claiming it was a recording of the late Kim Sae-ron's voice while she was alive. The recording contained claims stating, "I dated Kim Soo-hyun starting from the second year of middle school and had sexual relations with him."
However, this recording was concluded to be fabricated. In the arrest warrant application submitted to the prosecution, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station concluded that the KakaoTalk chat logs and the audio file of the late actress presented by Kim Se-ui at the press conference as evidence of the two dating were fabricated.
