Police have requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s suspected of murdering an acquaintance at an officetel in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.
The Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced today (July 29) that it has requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges of murder and violations of the Narcotics Control Act.
A was emergency arrested around 1:40 a.m. yesterday (July 28) on charges of wielding a weapon and killing a woman in her 50s, identified as B, at an officetel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.
Police discovered substances suspected to be illegal drugs, such as marijuana and philopon (methamphetamine), at the crime scene and have requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service.
During police questioning, A reportedly admitted to drug use but has been refusing to make statements regarding the murder.
Police plan to conduct a forensic analysis of A's mobile phone to investigate his relationship with the victim and the motive for the crime.
