Former baseball player and broadcaster Hwang Jae-gyun is drawing attention with a completely transformed visual featuring long hair and a slim build.
On the 28th, the official Tving Sports account posted a behind-the-scenes clip from the "Tving Super Match" titled "Chuno Appeared on Tving." The most talked-about aspect of the day was Hwang's drastically changed appearance. He appeared with his hair grown long enough to cover the nape of his neck, tied back loosely with his bangs swept back, and combined with a noticeably thinner face than before, creating an atmosphere quite different from his active playing days.
While preparing for the shoot, Jeong Keun-woo saw Hwang with his long hair and remarked, "You look totally like Jang Hyuk today, right?", mentioning a character from the drama "Chuno." Hwang acknowledged this and joked, "I look like I have to go beat someone up right now."
When asked how long he plans to grow his hair, he showed an unusual attachment to his long hair, saying, "I'm keeping it growing until it can be tied up. I plan to grow it until no comments tell me to cut my hair. As long as even a single comment like that appears, I'm going to keep growing it."
On this day, Hwang also shared an update that he recently finished a body profile photo shoot. He revealed that right after the shoot finished, he drank an isotonic sports drink and took digestive medicine, and later out of curiosity ate a hot dog, causing his weight to bounce back by 3 kg from 80.2 kg, prompting laughter by saying, "I'm never shooting one again."
Previously, Hwang revealed the reason for his weight loss during an appearance on the YouTube channel "Dourumari Studio" last March. He confessed, "Shortly after I retired, I went on a variety show and looking at myself, I thought, 'Why is a pig sitting there?' When I played baseball, I didn't pay attention, but seeing myself right after retirement shocked me. So I've been working out and losing a ton of weight."
Hwang entered the professional leagues in 2006 and played as a representative infielder of the KBO League, before announcing his retirement in December of last year following the end of the 2025 season. Afterwards, he signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C in February of this year, transitioned into a broadcaster, and is currently active as a Tving baseball commentator.
