A driver who got stuck on a railway after crashing his car while driving under the influence was caught after calling for help himself.
According to the Samcheok Police Station and fire authorities today (July 28), a report was received at 12:52 AM today from a man in his 50s, identified as A, stating that his Tucson SUV was unable to move at a railway crossing in Neukgu-ri, Dogye-eup, Samcheok.
The caller was the driver himself.
Police, who arrived at the scene following a joint response request from fire authorities, moved the vehicle to a safe location.
Investigations showed that A was driving the car under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into the barrier at the railway crossing.
He reportedly struck a curb again while attempting to reverse, and after the vehicle became completely immobile, he called for rescue himself.
At the time of the accident, A's blood alcohol concentration was at or above the level for license revocation (0.08% or higher).
Police plan to book and investigate A on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
