A joint inspection is underway this morning to investigate the fire at the Incheon Coupang logistics center, which was finally extinguished after 109 hours. Authorities plan to focus their investigation on the 6th floor, where the fire originated, to determine the cause and the reasons for its rapid spread.

A joint inspection of the fire-damaged Coupang logistics center in Seoknam-dong, Incheon, began at 10:00 a.m. today (July 28).
This comes six days after the fire was completely extinguished. Relevant authorities, including the police, fire department, National Forensic Service, and Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, are participating in the joint inspection.
Authorities are focusing on the 6th floor, where the fire first started, to investigate the cause of the fire and the reasons behind its rapid propagation.
However, it is reported that a significant portion of the interior is burned down and severely damaged, meaning the inspection is expected to take a considerable amount of time.
Previously, the police formed a dedicated investigation team consisting of around 30 members to look into the cause of the fire, and last week summoned the initial reporter and Coupang officials as reference witnesses for questioning.
The dedicated team is also focusing on securing CCTV footage capturing the initial outbreak of the fire.
It is reported that the investigation will proceed by referencing the case of the Icheon Deokpyeong Coupang fire from five years ago, where firefighting efforts were delayed because control room personnel repeatedly turned off the fire alarms.
The fire, estimated to have started at 6:54 a.m. on the 18th on a shelf on the 6th floor of the Coupang logistics center, was fully put out 109 hours after it broke out.
Due to the fire, two firefighters suffered from smoke inhalation and exhaustion, and around 200 nearby residents were evacuated.
