SSG Landers Dispatches Pitching Prospects Choi Yong-jun, Lee Jun-ki, Kim Do-hyun, and Byun Geun-woo to Japan

Professional baseball team SSG Landers is dispatching promising pitchers to a sports science training institution in Japan to help them develop.

An official from the SSG club announced today (July 28) that "pitching prospects Choi Yong-jun, Lee Jun-ki, Kim Do-hyun, and Byun Geun-woo, along with two coaching staff members, will be dispatched to the Next Base Athletic Lab in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, for a two-week period from July 28 to August 10."

Next Base Athletic Lab is a sports science-based training institution that provides customized training directions after precisely analyzing each player's pitching mechanism and physical data.

This dispatch was promoted as part of the overseas advanced sports science system conceptualized by Choo Shin-soo, SSG's club owner's advisor and general manager of player development.

Considering their potential and likelihood to grow into first-team assets in the future, SSG selected a diverse group of players for the dispatch, including power pitchers capable of throwing fastballs around 150 km/h, as well as starting and bullpen prospects.

Local players will review their pitching motions based on biomechanics analysis and identify individual areas for improvement.

SSG plans to share the analysis data obtained locally with the coaching staff in real-time, and utilize it for post-return training, closing camp, and off-season preparation processes.

Advisor Choo stated, "We decided on this dispatch as a club-level investment to strengthen the first-team pitching staff for the second half of the season and foster future talent," adding, "We expect the players and coaching staff to intensively complete the cutting-edge biomechanics program and grow a step further into core assets that can immediately contribute to the team on the first-team stage."
