"My Child Didn't Come Home"... Trapped and Left Crying Alone

We understand there has been another incident where a child was left alone inside a bus?

This took place at a kindergarten in Taebaek, Gangwon Province.

A 5-year-old kindergartener fell asleep in the very back seat of a school bus and was left inside without getting off.

The driver and the vehicle assistant reportedly failed to check the inside of the vehicle after finishing their route, leaving the child unattended alone for about 40 minutes to an hour.

When the child did not return after the usual time to come home, the parents reported the matter to the police, and the mother eventually found her child crying inside the school bus herself.

Following the incident, the child has reportedly been afraid of being alone and is receiving counseling from the department of psychiatry.

The kindergarten apologized, stating that the vehicle check by the driver and the assistant was inadequate, and added that they would come up with measures to prevent recurrence.

The education community pointed out that as similar accidents have occurred successively lately, the distribution of safety devices such as sleeping child check systems needs to be expanded.
