▲ Flooding accident involving a fishing boat off the coast of Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do
A fishing vessel suffered a flooding accident off the coast of Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do, but all crew members were safely rescued.
According to the Busan Coast Guard on today (the 28th), a report was received at around 10:20 PM yesterday that a 9.77-ton coastal gillnet fishing boat was taking on water in waters about 20 kilometers south of Hongdo Island, Tongyeong.
When a Coast Guard patrol vessel arrived at the scene, the fishing boat had already capsized, but all 7 crew members had been rescued by another fishing vessel passing nearby.
They were reportedly wearing life jackets and waiting for rescue while standing on top of the overturned hull.
The Coast Guard transferred the rescued crew members onto a patrol vessel to bring them ashore and is currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.
