A man in his 60s has been apprehended by police after attempting to engage in prostitution with a 16-year-old female youth he met through a chat app in Cheongju.
The Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station announced that it is booking and investigating a man in his 60s, identified as A, on charges including the violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Youths against Sexual Exploitation.
A is suspected of attempting to purchase sex from B (16), whom he met via a chat application, at a home in Cheongju at around 8:00 AM today (July 27).
Afterward, when B refused sexual relations and called a friend who swore at him, A directly called the police himself.
Police who were dispatched following the report arrested A at the scene.
According to the investigation, during this process, A also pushed B, telling her to get out of the house.
A reportedly stated during police questioning, "It was an adult app, so I didn't know she was a minor."
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident involving A.
