One person was killed after a four-vehicle collision occurred near the Anseong IC on the Busan-bound Gyeongbu Expressway in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, at around 11:50 PM yesterday (July 26).

The chain-reaction crash reportedly occurred after a passenger car driven by a woman in her 30s, identified as A, crashed into the median barrier and stopped between the 1st and 2nd lanes.

A van traveling in the 1st lane rear-ended A's vehicle and bounced into the 5th lane, where it collided with a vehicle coming up the 5th lane.

Subsequently, an SUV traveling in the 1st lane crashed into A's vehicle once again.

As a result of the accident, A was classified as severely injured and transported to a hospital, but ultimately died. The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police plan to investigate the exact cause of the accident by securing witnesses and footage.
