Hanwha Keeps Postseason Hopes Alive With 10-Run 8th Inning and Three Homers to Beat LG

In professional baseball, the Hanwha Eagles defeated the LG Twins to keep their hopes of re-entering the top five alive. They put on an explosive display of focus, scoring a massive 10 runs in a tied game during the eighth inning.

Backed by strong pitching from new foreign pitcher Zimmerman, Hanwha was leading 4-0 through the sixth inning. However, they gave up two runs in the top of the seventh, followed by a game-tying two-run homer to LG's Park Dong-won in the eighth.

Just as it seemed they might let a secure victory slip away, the bottom of the eighth brought a turning point when Hanwha capitalized on a throwing error to second base by LG catcher Park Dong-won. With one out and runners on second and third, Shim Woo-jun hit a grounder to shortstop, allowing Kim Tae-yeon to slide home desperately for the go-ahead run.

Then, Hanwha's home run show began.

Rookie Han Ji-yoon sealed the victory with his debut home run, a three-run blast over the left-field wall. Noh Si-hwan followed with a lucky two-run homer that deflected off the glove of leaping LG right fielder Song Chan-hee and over the fence.

With Heo In-seo adding a solo home run to right-center, Hanwha sent 15 batters to the plate in the eighth inning alone. Their explosive 10-run rally secured a 14-4 victory, keeping their hopes of re-entering the top five alive.

KIA's Kim Do-young hit a home run for the third consecutive game in the fourth inning against Kiwoom, edging out LG's Austin to reach the 30-home run mark first and reclaim the outright lead in home runs.

Kiwoom starting pitcher Kim Yun-ha, who held opponents to three runs over five innings, snapped his personal 18-game losing streak to experience the joy of a win for the first time in two years.

Doosan defeated league leaders Samsung, propelled by ace Kwak Been's six scoreless innings, and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Lotte pounded out 15 hits to halt KT's bid for their first-ever 10-game winning streak since their founding, while SSG and NC ended in a tie after an 11-inning extra-time battle.
