Prosecutors have demanded a prison sentence for a Japanese man indicted for molesting a Chinese female tourist visiting Busan and urinating on her body.
Judge Park Joo-young of Criminal Chamber 3 at the Busan District Court held a trial on the 24th for a Japanese national in his 30s, identified as A, who was indicted on charges including forcible indecent act.
According to the prosecution's charge sheet, A is accused of touching the head of B, a Chinese female tourist who was asleep in a multi-bed room at a guesthouse in Busanjin-gu, Busan, on April 15, and exposing his genitals by pulling down his pants next to the bed.
A is also accused of urinating on B's feet and luggage.
A's legal team admitted to all the charges during the trial.
The prosecution asked the court to sentence A to six months in prison, order the completion of a sexual violence treatment program, disclose and notify his personal information, and ban him from employment for three years.
In his final statement, A said, "I am deeply sorry for causing mental distress to the victim," adding, "I will never forget this incident for the rest of my life and will not commit such a wrong again."
The incident came to light after the Chinese woman, B, posted about it on Weibo, a popular social networking service in her home country.
The post garnered more than 30 million views and spread rapidly online.
The sentencing hearing for A is scheduled for the 12th of next month.
