Man in 60s Rescued Without Pulse After Stopping Car on Incheon Bridge and Falling

At 6:06 p.m. on the 24th, a report was filed with the 119 emergency service stating that a person was "trying to climb over (the railing)" near the main tower of Incheon Bridge toward Yeongjongdo in Jung-gu, Incheon.

Receiving the report, fire authorities and the Coast Guard deployed rescue teams and rescued individual A. Emergency medical services transferred A to a hospital at 6:39 p.m. on the same day, 33 minutes after the report.

At the time, individual A was found to have no pulse or breathing.

Investigations showed that A stopped the vehicle on the road shoulder before falling into the sea.

Incheon Bridge, where falling accidents frequently occur, has been pushing for a project to install safety railings to prevent falls, but it has faced setbacks due to institutional shortcomings.

Since the opening of Incheon Bridge in 2009 until the 19th of last month, a total of 99 people have jumped from the bridge.

Among them, 73 people died, 15 are missing, and 11 survived.
