More than half of all water recreation-related deaths occur between late July and early August, data shows.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, a total of 104 people died in water accidents over the five-year period from 2021 to last year.
In particular, 34 people died in late July and 22 in early August, coinciding with the peak summer vacation period, accounting for 54 percent of all fatalities.
By location, streams and rivers accounted for the largest share at 31 percent, while 40 percent of the deaths were caused by a lack of swimming skills.
