Hyundai Motor Group announced that Chairman Euisun Chung visited Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, on the 24th local time and held a meeting with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang.
During the meeting, Chairman Chung and CEO Huang reportedly discussed ways to cooperate across a wide range of fields, including autonomous driving, robotics, and manufacturing artificial intelligence (AI).
CEO Huang previously visited Hyundai Motor Group's headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on June 8th of last month while visiting South Korea, where the two leaders formed a consensus on the direction of cooperation across various sectors.
In particular, as CEO Huang referred to Saemangeum—the planned site for Hyundai Motor Group's investment—as South Korea's "AI Valley" and mentioned cooperation plans such as data centers, discussions are also believed to have covered cooperation related to Saemangeum with Nvidia.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest 9 trillion won sequentially starting this year on a 1.124 million-square-meter site in Saemangeum to build a future technology innovation and growth hub encompassing robotics, AI, hydrogen energy, solar power generation, and an AI hydrogen city.
Hyundai Motor Group has been expanding its collaboration with Nvidia since last year.
Following the signing of a strategic partnership with Nvidia in January of last year, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in October to enhance domestic physical AI capabilities.
Hyundai Motor Group secured 50,000 next-generation AI Blackwell GPUs, laying the foundation to strengthen its robotics and autonomous driving businesses.
The two sides decided to invest approximately 3 billion dollars to establish the Nvidia AI Technology Center and the Hyundai Motor Group Physical AI Application Center in South Korea.
In March of this year, they also announced the launch of joint development for next-generation autonomous driving solutions by combining Hyundai's proprietary software-defined vehicle (SDV) capabilities with Nvidia's autonomous driving technology.
