President Lee Jae-myung has decided to forgo his summer vacation this year.
An official from the Cheong Wa Dae stated today (the 24th), "The President has decided to return his summer vacation this year and replace it by focusing on 'sales diplomacy.'"
President Lee departed this afternoon for an 11-day, 7-night overseas tour visiting the United States, three South American nations, and Germany.
Presidential summer vacations are typically scheduled for late July or early August. However, with a major real estate debate, overseas trips, and ministry briefings lined up during this period, Cheong Wa Dae explained that he chose to dedicate himself to his duties instead.
That said, President Lee has told his Cheong Wa Dae aides and state council members to "all take your vacations," the official added.
Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik reportedly delivered the President's message to state council members earlier today, stating, "As the President always emphasizes, state administration must be sustainable, so please go on your vacations. Only then can the staff also rest."
Kang also conveyed President Lee's stance that employees should take appropriate time off during an all-staff meeting held at Cheong Wa Dae yesterday.
