Director Lee Chang-dong's new film "Possible Love" has been officially invited to compete in the main competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
"Possible Love" tells the story of two couples—a fired worker and his wife, and a documentary director and her husband—who meet while producing a documentary, facing different lives and hidden desires. Directed by Lee Chang-dong, known for works such as "Green Fish," "Oasis," "Secret Sunshine," and "Burning," the film stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong.
This marks Director Lee Chang-dong's return to the Venice Film Festival's competition section 24 years after "Oasis" in 2002. At the time, "Oasis" won a total of five awards, including the Silver Lion for Best Director and Moon Sori winning the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Actress.
This year's festival will take place from September 2 to 12 on the Lido di Venezia near Venice. In the competition section, Director Lee Chang-dong's "Possible Love" will compete for the Golden Lion, alongside works such as Hirokazu Kore-eda's "Look Back," Werner Herzog's "Bucking Fastard," Nanni Moretti's "It Will Happen Tonight," and Martin McDonagh's "Wild Horse Nine."
Director Lee Chang-dong and the cast members plan to attend official events and press conferences locally.
Following its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, "Possible Love" will greet global viewers through Netflix.
