Song Seong-mun of the San Diego Padres appeared as a pinch hitter for the second consecutive day but failed to record a hit.
Song went hitless in one at-bat during an away game against the Atlanta Braves in Major League Baseball (MLB) held at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, on the 24th (KST).
Left out of the starting lineup, Song came up as the leadoff hitter in the top of the 9th inning, replacing Freddy Fermin, with the San Diego Padres trailing 5-6.
Facing Atlanta relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias, Song swung and missed at a falling changeup on a 1-2 count, resulting in a strikeout.
His season batting average dropped to 0.226, with 21 hits in 93 at-bats.
With the 5-6 loss, San Diego suffered its second consecutive defeat.
Atlanta starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 11 batters over 6 innings, picking up his 11th win of the season (6 losses).
