U.S. stocks closed slightly lower as concerns over revived inflation triggered by surging international oil prices weighed on the market, alongside caution ahead of upcoming earnings reports from major companies such as Tesla and Alphabet.
On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 6.06 points, or 0.01%, to finish at 52,218.58.
The S&P 500 declined 10.24 points, or 0.14%, to 7,498.96, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 146.30 points, or 0.57%, to end at 25,690.90.
